City of Valkeakoski
Koiton aukio Square, City of Valkeakoski, Finland

The work was commissioned to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the City of Valkeakoski. The theme was left open, except that there was a wish for the art work to take children into account. The work is situated on the Koiton aukio square at the point where it meets the pedestrian precinct, marked by buildings with their own individual architectural character and an abundance and variety of street furniture and urban motifs. The work can act as a part of the events arranged in the public square as well as a meeting place. One of the aims of the installation was to bring a new and dominant theme to the square. The work's historical references convey a message from times past, yet the scale of the work is of the present day.
